Annual Competitions
Each year the town is entered in the Britain in Bloom competition for the South West area which includes South Glos, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Wiltshire. Within that area we compete directly with towns of similar population e.g. Sidmouth, St.lves, Corsham and Devizes. Over the years we have won numerous certificates and in 2002 and 2003 we won the prestigious Portman Cup: in 2004 we won a Silver Gilt award followed by Gold Awards in 2005 and 2006.
We also have a range of local competitions, which are keenly contested each year, these include:
Front garden in categories: ornamental garden, garden in bloom or combination garden.
House Frontage trophy for houses without front gardens.
Best Hanging Basket.
Best Road.
Best Public Houses, Commercial premises and Industrial Estate Premises.
Be little devils this year and enter the competition that suits your property.
For 2009 we are introducing a new competition for person or persons under 18.
"We have been given a new Trophy to commemorate Mrs Janet Lines who passed away this year and was one of our founding members. The trophy will be awarded at the judges discretion to the best Youth Project with particular importance being given to projects soley undertaken by young people without or with minimal adult assistance".
