Donations or Sponsorship

Financial Support

All the work we do in the town has to be financed by our team. We obtain a small grant from the Town Council and apply for grants from South Gloucestershire and any other possible sources. However the majority of our funds come from donors either private or corporate or from the many voluntary groups in the town. We also work hard fund-raising ourselves with the Plant sale, Social Evenings, Raffles etc during the year.

All money donated goes back into helping the town maintain the high standards of summer floral displays, spring bulb displays, all year round planting wildlife conservation and involvement in the community.

Some people like to sponsor a specific project for example a hanging basket. The cost for this is £40.00inc VAT this year and includes provision of a commemorative plaque if required. If you are an individual, group or business and wish to sponsor a larger project in return for publicity or as a tribute or memorial we will be glad to discuss this with you.

Please print the attached form and return it with your donation to either Sue Aitken at Thornbury Garden Shop or any other member of the Thornbury in Bloom team. Please ensure you let us have your details and a note of how you would like your donation to be acknowledged.

If you would like to discuss a donation before committing your self please contact Sue Aitken on 01454 419350 or thornburyinbloom@yahoo.co.uk or any other member of our team. On behalf of our team and the whole of the Town thank-you to everyone who has supported us in the past and we look forward to hearing from you for 2010.

Funding and Sponsors

Thornbury In Bloom depends almost entirely on sponsorship with only a guaranteed £850 grant from the Town Council. This means an annual task fundraising, cajole, persuade and plead for funds to produce the magnificent displays, which are provided year after year. January starts with letters being sent out to all local businesses, organisations, philanthropic residents and anyone else that seems to be a possible provider of financial support.

In 2005 we lost the sponsorship of the Town Pump, at the time this was a devastating blow but the resulting coverage in the press brought the matter to the attention of all and we quickly raised enough individual contributions to maintain the Pump decorations for more than one year. The publicity raised the profile of Thornbury in Bloom and local residents came to appreciate that did not just appear each year and had to be paid for somehow.

We continue to raise money by selling plants at plant stalls, having well known. speakers like Jekka McVicar telling us about her Gold Medal successes at the Chelsea Flower Show, holding raffles at presentation evenings and many other events.

You can make a donation of any sum you can afford, and you may sponsor a hanging basket or display as many do in memory of a loved one. Whatever you choose to do can be arranged by a number of charming ladies in the Town Hall who will relieve you of your money with pleasure, call in or telephone 01454 412103.

We are very grateful to all those kind and generous supporters who have given so generously in the past and we look forward to the continuation of your sponsorship this year and for many future years. Thank you all.
